Usually, when published in volume form (as opposed to in individual weekly, fortnightly or monthly issues), an index of contents of the whole volume is added at the front. In the case of our volume of the Baker and Confectioner, the first two pages comprise the cover of the first issue of the volume (for 1 January 1897), on the back of which we find a list of advertisers in that first issue. The Index proper (for the whole of volume 10, 1897) then follows, comprising 4 pages.
