Pages 9-10 give recipes for various kinds of “Cups” – alcoholic punches and sorbets. They make liberal use of “champagne” (I’m sure prosecco would do just nicely) as well as rum, and the quantities are decidedly for large parties (the “Imperial Punch” involves amongst the fruit, a bottle each of rum, hock and champagne).
The controversy of the moment (see letters and editorials) concerns Sunday opening: the Baker and Confectioner had previously argued that prohibiting work on a Sunday did not give consideration to those who considered the Sabbath a Saturday.
